I'm trying to get my class set up using the Algebra course. Do you do the guided notes after you present the lesson or when do you suggest the bell work. Thanks
Hi Lenise! I typically integrate the guided notes into my instruction - with time out for collaborative work every 5 -7 minutes. The kids begin the bell work the minute they walk into the classroom so I can get attendance taken, etc. I typically use just an index card for a bell work problem or two, and then I collect them. I do something called "My Favorite No" where I look over the collected bell work and pick out my favorite solution that is not the correct answer, but will still give us some rich conversation/discussion. I hope this helps!
