In order to have your classroom be completely "Paperless" with Chrome Books or Lap Tops you will need to use "Fillable PDFs".
Depending on the version of Adobe you have, if you put in blanks (type a line to be written on) in a Word doc and then save it as a PDF, it *should* turn those blank lines into fields your students can type in. I did that and then uploaded the new pdfs to my Google classroom. Hope that helps!!

If you just want the Assignments turned into Google Classroom for grading purposes and do not care if the students to the work on paper. Then you can have them do it on paper and use the Google Classroom App to take a picture of their work and upload it to GC. This way they still won't be able to say they lost their homework or any of the other excuses because their will be a digital copy on GC.
