Bio

I have taught high school mathematics for 20 years, but was compelled to take a leave of absence from my job due to a variety of concerns about the pandemic and the manner in which it impacted my job. In recent years, I taught precalculus-trigonometry and calculus courses in a very small parochial school and I felt like I needed to completely revise my course materials anticipating having to transition from a paper-based classroom environment to an online environment. What I discovered was that I did not have nearly enough time to create what I felt I wanted and needed in anticipation and preparation for the next school year. When I say I struggled to complete the 2019-2020 school year when we were sent packing in March, 2020 I do not believe I am alone. In fact most people I knew were barely getting through each week before the year ended and in terms of a full school year, it was a relatively short period of time. When the school I worked for decided to have all faculty in the school building to start the school year, my family and I determined it was simply not possible for me to return without extreme risk to my health. Since then the school I worked in has announced a closing at the end of the current academic year. So I am currently sidelined and have joined this community to see what the courses and materials have to offer as well as the community. If I return to teaching, I would like my preparation time reduced so I can focus on actually helping my students learn and create my own materials without feeling hurried and rushed only to be disappointed in the outcome.  Over my career I have taught a variety of algebra, geometry, probability and statistic, precalculus, trigonometry, and calculus courses, but it has been many years since I have taught most of the courses that are made available here and I am looking forward to seeing what's here.

If you've made it this far, thank you.
