A math educator for more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of teaching at both the middle and high school levels. I began my career in Wisconsin at West Bend West High School and then transferred to Hartford Union High School after 3 years. Teaching at HUHS was so rewarding and that is where I earned my National Board Certification for young adults in mathematics. In 2011 my husband and I moved our family to Hawaii, where we were stationed for three years. In that time I taught at an all boys Catholic High School for a year, and then moved to Island Pacific Academy for two years to teach middle school math in the IB based curriculum. Following our time in Hawaii, we were stationed in Key West, FL where I continued to work with middle school math students at Sigsbee Charter School. It was at this school where I worked on the renewal process for my National Board Certification. I now teach and live in Charlottesville, VA where we have decided to retire and put down permanent roots. I am co-chair of the math department at Monticello High School and also am the assistant athletic director. With all of these responsibilities I am hopeful that mathteachercoach will allow me the time to be excellent in all facets of my work without feeling overburdoned and without missing out on precious family time.
