I am Sherri Coomes.  I teacher in California and have been doing so for 26 years.  I have a multiple subject credential and teach in elementary school.  Last year I was 6th this upcoming year I will be 5th.  I have taught grades 1-6 during my tenure.  I have been a teaching coach (onboarding coach and new teacher coach) both while I also taught and also out of the classroom.  I teach all subjects and plan a 90 min. math block in my classroom.  I do math workshop model where I teach short lessons, meet with small intensive groups and students rotate thru different "centers" where they practice our lessons.  We use CER Math strategies for problem solving and writing to learn in math.  We are an AVID school and I am AVID Lead.  We are incorporating the WICOR process into the math processes at our school next year.  We follow the CCSS and have an adoption that I use rarely.  I plan lessons with things I find and create to meet the needs of my students.  I love my job and I was born to teach.  I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and I use it every day.
